Must ridiculous suggestion ever?
India's minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Mani Shankar Aiyar, says India might make a bid for hosting the football World Cup in 2014. I'm in complete consensus with the comments that follow the linked article -- Mani Shankar has gone nuts! I still distinctly remember the time when PSV Eindhoven had come over to India to play three games with the national team. I think the best result we obtained in those three games was an 8-2 defeat :)

i think its an absolutely fantastic idea .. this is the only way india will ever get to play in the world cup soccer. i believe the host does not need to qualify :-)
I think India can even win it all.
If Paes can defeat Ivanisevic, I can see India defeating the Delhi-belly inflicted Euros at Cherapunji in mid-June (playing in chikkad) with some home-support, I mean home-refs support.
Won't it be fun to see India play in 2 consecutive World Cups (one as hosts and the other one as defending champions :) Think of all the records we will create!
