India (and us too) have always been concerned about how they appear to the other people. And, so they spend crores of rupees on some Bollywood stars to prove that ours is a colorful country, and everyone's going to enjoy the Delhi CommonWealth Games.
I am not saying showcasing isn't important, but you can't spend ridiculous amount of money on this, when 99.9% of Indians haven't even heard about CWGs.
What irks me even more is that all that money could as well have been spent on the top sportsman's training. Instead, the Olympics will come round in 4 years time and we'll again be cribbing that a nation of 1 billion cannot produce a single gold-medallist!
